Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ divorce announcement came as quite a surprise to their wedding photographer, who recalls the couple as being “madly in love” during their 2006 nuptials.
Celebrity photographer Robert Evans was on site as the couple tied the knot during a Scientology wedding ceremony at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy and admits he was quite surprise to hear of their split.
“I always want my wedding couples to live happily ever after celebrity or not. I am always a bit saddened when I hear my couples have split up,” Evans told Celebuzz.
Evans, who also photographed Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s nuptials, reveals there was a lot of love in the room, with their daughter Suri Cruise and numerous celebrity guests such as Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez,Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy, John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Victoria Beckham on hand.
“I also photographed Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s wedding when they got married, and they seemed just as madly in love as Tom and Katie — and look what happened with Brad and Jen.”
“I think people need to realize they are just people too! People get divorced everyday.”
The Mission Impossible star, 49, and the 33-year-old Dawson’s Creek actress began dating in April 2005 and wed in November 2006.
This was Holmes’ first marriage and the third for Cruise, who previously was married to the actresses Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children, and Mimi Rogers.
