WEDDING photographer Barry Moir has teamed up with Google to offer a new online marketing tool to businesses across Fife.

The Kirkcaldy-based photographer has recently become the Kingdom’s Google Business Photos representative.
The initiative brings ‘Street View’ technology indoors with a series of 360 degree images, enabling potential customers to move easily from a street scene, through an open door to have a virtual stroll around a business.
Barry (40), explained that his involvement in the project started a few months ago when the search engine company were looking for professional photographers to work with.
He said: “The way technology is moving forward and this has come out so quick, we’re all internet based these days.
“A lot of my business is already internet based, but it would be good to see other businesses on the internet.
“This is another branch to my photography after starting six years ago.
“Apart from the benefit of getting my name known more, it feels like it’s putting a bit back in to other businesses.”
Barry has had to complete specialised training and certification to qualify as a Google Trusted Photographer for Fife, which means he can now undertake assignments for companies wanting to increase their web profile.
It’s not just the photographs the local businessman has responsibility for, he is also responsible for the uploads to Google and making sure the virtual tour meets the privacy and high standards required before it can be added to the internet.
Through Google Business Photos, Barry is finding his services are being requested by a much wider range of business than he had expected.
He said: “Businesses I’ve spoken to so far are very interested.
“Hotels especially, as they see it is a great way for people to see inside the hotel in more than just a few still photographs.
“It’s a great way of letting people see inside your premises.”
It’s not just hotels, shops, bars and restaurants which could benefit from this form of promotion, almost any building which welcomes the public through its doors could find the new service an exciting way to attract visitors.
There’s also the ability to intigrate the virtual tours into a company’s own website or any other web platform, including social networks.
Barry added: “Just to be part of Google Business Photos is fantastic and when it’s very new out and to be at the forefront is even better.”
