Choosing the Right Setting for Wedding Photography at State College, PA

Choosing the Right Setting for Wedding Photography at State College, PA

State College, PA is a beautiful place to have a wedding. Whether you are a student, resident, or alumni, State College has some awesome wedding settings and venues. As a wedding photographer here, I have some favorite spots I'd love to share with you.

If you're a Penn State fan, I wouldn't miss the photo opportunities in front of the stadium. Maybe the groomsmen or the whole wedding party can crouch down like they are at the line of scrimmage at a football game with the stadium in the background. Get some more bridal party shots at the Penn State University sign. There's a peek hole in the sign big enough for some kiss photos. Don't forget the Lion Shrine, every proud Penn Stater needs a picture with the school symbol. As you go deeper onto campus be sure to take advantage of the gardens, gazebos, and pillared architecture. A great shot to get is on College Street with old main towering in the background. You may need to hire a shuttle to take you from place to place on the big day.

For less college related pictures, go to The Arboretum at Penn State. Its also serves as a great wedding venue. The flowers are in bloom half the year. It's free to enter and park. It features gazebos, a bamboo forest, giant stone sun dial, and mountainous backgrounds. If the light is too harsh, go under the canvas roof of the main building. It diffuses the light beautifully. Commercial photography there requires a permit. For a great reception location close to all the action check out the Nittany Lion Inn. You and your bridal party can walk from there to all of the great photo locations around town.

In conclusion, proud Penn State alumni and others have a variety of environments to choose from for wedding pictures such as the arboretum, alumni garden, Penn State sign, the lion statue, old main, and many others. Make sure you tour the area before your big day so that you have an idea of how much walking or driving is required for your photo sessions. Although some spontaneity is great, a bit of planning can prevent stress on your wedding day and create beautiful pictures that last a lifetime.
